Luminaire efficiency
Luminaire efficiency is an important criterion in gauging the energy efficiency of a luminaire. It is the ratio between the luminous flux emitted by the luminaire to the luminous flux of the lamp (or lamps) installed in the luminaire.
The luminaire efficiency hLB of standard luminaires is approx. 0.6. That of high performance luminaires is around 0.8 to 0.85.
A distinction must be made between luminaire efficiency and the utilisation factor, which is the product of the room utilisation factor and the luminaire efficiency.
