Waste balance sheet

Avoid waste, recycle waste, dispose of waste: this hierarchy of objectives is an important environmental protection blueprint for waste management at our works and also makes good economic sense. After all, if there is no waste produced in the first place then there are no waste disposal costs.

A study of the waste balance sheet shows that the absolute volume of waste has fallen over the past 10 years, and that despite considerable increases in production it has remained more or less constant over the past five years.

Dark blue: For disposal in tons
Light blue: For recycling in tons

When normalized with respect to the value added, the specific volume of waste in the 2004/05 fiscal year was only 32 percent of the figure for 1993/94.

These results are evidence of our achievements in reducing waste and testify to the initiatives and ideas from our employees for avoiding waste right from the start and achieving high levels of recycling through proper sorting procedures.
